Nerding Up On Nutrition With Meg!

We often believe that working out is sufficient to lose weight, be healthy, and gain muscle. However, nutrition is one of the most vital components of a healthy lifestyle.

In this episode, Meg, the newest coach at Gas Station Fitness & Nutrition, discusses three things that many people struggle with when it comes to nutrition, and she offers advice for overcoming these challenges.

1. THE SCALE

Many people are focused on numbers. If the scale doesn’t show a constantly decreasing number, they’re disappointed. They don’t take into account the fact that fat loss doesn’t necessarily show on the scale. Even if your weight stays the same, if your clothing is suddenly baggier, you’re making progress! Moreover, even if your body composition is taking a long time to change, better workouts and better mental health are amazing victories that you should celebrate.

2. VEGETABLES

From childhood, most of us are taught not to like vegetables. Some people may claim that they “cannot” eat veggies, that they despise them, and so on. However, this is just a mentality. You can learn to love vegetables and make them taste good! Of course a pile of plain, steamed broccoli gets boring… but have you ever roasted broccoli with garlic and sea salt and a bit of olive oil? Get creative, and try new recipes that bring new life to your veggies.

3. EATING ENOUGH

When we start a diet or a new meal plan, we often try to starve ourselves, but this is not healthy or sustainable. You need to understand that calories are your friends. Calories = ENERGY!  You can’t tackle a workout at the gym or even a project at work without energy.
